Hello to all my readers.

My name is Lillie Manning and I live in Florida with my wonderful husband, Major. My passion for reading led me to writing poems, children’s books, and now my very first novel. I can’t tell you how exciting this is for me. I have buried my head in books for so long that my mother thought I got headaches because I read too much. That may have been the case, but to tell a 12-year-old bookworm not to read any more books was met with a high anxiety. She didn’t understand the sheer need to escape into one of the many stories I’ve come to love. So, I started hiding books in the bathroom, under the sink, anywhere I could to allow a few minutes of reading throughout the day. My family would bang on the door repeatedly while I sat inside the locked bathroom engrossed in one of my adventures.

My mother gave me the chore of cooking breakfast for the family and most of the time they all ate burned grits and overcooked sausage because I hid in the pantry reading my latest find leaving the food unattended. Mom thought I was just a bad cook and sent me to do other chores, but I messed those up too because I hurried to complete them as fast as I could. All I could think about was getting back to my other life that was more daring and courageous than the one I lived with my four sisters and five brothers. Yes, my family was very large, and I was the middle child. I can’t tell you if that was a positive or negative with all the chao around every day. I found my escape into the romance novels where the most handsome, bravest, and strongest man always got his girl.
